Selected as one of People’s sexiest men of 2020, and the only male to be on the cover of Elle magazine, 26-year-old Colombian heartthrob Maluma’a latest album #7DJ -7 Días En Jamaica (Seven Days in Jamaica) pays homage to the Latin and Caribbean culture, which are similar in so many ways including their African and indigenous people roots.
7 Días En Jamaica is an audio-visual ode to seven days Maluma spent journeying around Jamaica pre-pandemic. The seven-song set is a return to his salsa and reggae roots and is clearly inspired by tropical, dancehall, and reggae beats skillfully infused with his identifiable reggaeton-pop sound. He collaborated with Jamaican artists Ziggy Marley on “Tónika” and Charly Black on the “Love” cut.
Maluma might have fallen in love during his trip to Jamaica, and all the proof is in the sixth song “Love.” The song starts off with a phone call, during which Maluma tells Charly Black that he is falling for a girl. “I’m here in Jamaica. Yesterday, I met a girl that drove me crazy. She has me lovesick. “She’s in my heart/ I’m so crazy I don’t care if I crash,” says part of the lyrics in Spanish. His love interest is portrayed by Davina Bennett, former Miss Jamaica, and 2017 Miss Universe runner-up.
Charly cautions him “that a girl like that will blow your mind, so yu betta, betta, take your time.”
